I attended a conference today for business. There were three speakers on hand. One for a succesful NA motorcycle business talking about how they have been able to build a brand. One that was with RIM and was previously with the CDN Air Force. She talked about "Mission Critical Leasership". One thing that stuck with me was "taking a leap". Going outside your comfort zone and do something that can challenge you, or something completly new. They wrapped up the event with a speaker named Michael Furdyk. From the minute he walked on stage I found myself thinking "what can this guy tell us, he seams so young". My how pre judging can be bad. Michael was the most dynamic person I have ever met. Not that he was the most charismatic person in the world, but he was real. Real and humble. He talked a lot about technology and how it is changing. What I found most interesting was his discussion about youth. Yet he did not talk directly about his accomplishments and what he is doing. A very humble man. He was also inspiring. I have never bloged before. I don't even know if this will ever be read. But I am taking a leap. At 32 I don't know if I still qualify as "youth" but I have decided to take leaps. Get involved. More importantly get others involved. I am going to make sure I discuss something relevent to the future of our world every day. Whether it be social, economical, environmental, or political. I will do this in my business practises, my social times and more importantly I will teach my son, nieces and nephews, and neighborhood kids the importance of getting involved. I will also lead by example.
